I entered the world of photography when I was in high school. I photographed landscapes while hiking mountains in Montana, where I grew up. I moved to the Seattle area in 2000 and discovered many more hikes to photograph. I also did some traveling and photographed destinations from Mexico and the Caribbean to Peru. It wasn't until I joined the Seattle Flickr Meetup group that my hobby became more of a passion and some might say an obsession. I started shooting more of a variety of subjects from street, architecture, people and what is my current focus, food. I became a group organizer after a year of being an active member of the group. I learned so much from being around other photographers of various levels and began collecting more cameras and lenses. Today, I most enjoy making people hungry with my food photos from restaurants, workshops, and my own home cooked meals. I have a food blog called Gapey's Grub where I mostly blog cookbook and restaurant reviews and occasionally post a recipe of my own. I am currently a stock photographer for Getty Images, where people are able to buy licenses to use my photos for use in print or on the web. I've enjoyed shooting with Olympus gear since I made the switch to digital. I use the E-5 and OM-D E-M5 cameras for the majority of my work. I've begun using the E-M5 more often due to it's ideal size and weight. I take it with me everywhere. I recently started contributing to Small Camera Big Picture, a site all about small mirrorless cameras. I curate Flickr Fridays and share photography tips and gear reviews. |
Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
